As I enjoy this wonderful Sunday evening, babies sleeping, tv off, and yummy glass of wine (check, check and check) I start to get a little nervous thinking that this time next week I might be a little more frantic trying to get ready for the start of the spring semester. I have been lucky enough to enjoy the last 6 weeks off. Spending time at home with the kids and having a little more flexibility with my shower time (and sleep) will surely be missed. I decided that today our little girl took another step in that growing up to fast category. We came home from costco and she wanted to go across the street and play with the neighborhood friends. Jordan wasn't home to play and Taya was just getting ready for nap time. I realized quickly as she came across the street in Daddy's arms in tears because Taya couldn't play that she is still a little one but these days are going faster and faster. So while she still wants to snuggle and play with Mama I'm going to enjoy and cherish that time. My babies are growing up so fast it's crazy, in the words of Darius Rucker, "It Won't Be Like This For Long". So I am soaking it up!
As the spring semester approaches I get excited for what is to come. A new start with classes I've been teaching for a few years, my online classes are going smooth and a new "face to face" class that makes me nervous and excited all at the same time. I find myself wanting to get new pens, binders and anything else to help keep my work in order. 2010 comes with goals and being organized is at the top of the list. I have a system that works well, but I think I can make it just a little better. Getting dinners ready for the week over the weekend is one of them. (Any dinner recipe ideas? Please share.) And as silly as it sounds having clothing picked out for the week for me and the kids is one less thing to deal with. If you've ever lived with me you know all to well, the circus that is, me picking out an outfit. I have for the past few years had the luxury of wearing workout clothes to work each day. The spring semester brings a new class into my teaching schedule and I am feeling the need to dress up a little more then my most comfortable clothes, at least two days a week.
So as I mentally prepare for the weeks to come I can sit back and relax because for now I'm still on vacation :)

I'm right there with you on gearing up for heading back to work and making sure everything is in order ahead of time. Slowly but surely!
